rain drops were the order of the afternoon
the dry conditions and warm sun have many ponds already beginning to sport lesions of algae mats.
I love a grey skey, steady breeze
Started out lobbing the ol' J&P
I quickly sensed this just wasnt the right look for the day
I picked up a few, but mostly on the swim
decided to lighten up-
on went a battle worn minus1, complete with missing eye and most of the paint worn off
I heave it on my light rod, launching it halfway across the pond in the favorable winds
a flat on the upper end is the place to be in the spring
by summer, this area is almost dry
but in the spring-seem like the whole house lives up there
takes a while, but they start coming
random: near, far, at my feet
the fun is you never know when?
then that rod- a twelve or fouteen incher pulls like a titan
i always have to play it soft until the fish shows itself...
at long distance- I am never certain what I have tied into
it goes on and on
the rain waxes and wanes throughout the afternoon
I get some great jumps-losing a half dozen or more thusly
but I hardly care; easier than unhooking them]-\\
and the collision and launch are most of the fun anyway
I bag , what-fifteen or twenty? Who knows? Who cares?
they are heavier than last year-only one or two gaunt ones in the mix
all the way around the horn, then: out comes the senko
it's on all over: on the drop, the swim, the lift,
the fall
just keep it moving
I will say 30 fish in four or five hours
had to change jacket and shirt one time
property owner finally comes by- I feed him the whole score
his diagnosis is lunacy- he doesnt fish, and is puzzled by somebody standing in the rain all afternoon to do so...
