1-31-12, Cedar while on a conference call.....

30 minutes

No fish

Usual Ernie spot

3/8 oz Black/Blue P & J

Perhaps 1 bump

Maybe Curly can tell us what's the best way to fish the P & J in cold water....

Move it about an inch every 4-5 sec.  Instead of pulling or jigging it, shake your rod tip to move it ever so slightly smile .  It also helps to have active fish nearby.  IF they pick it up, they will not swim with it, but just set there with it in their mouth.............if it feels like a rock or twig down there.........SET THE HOOK! big_smile

Ha ha...........True when it is warm.  This month, it's taken me 30-45 minutes to move down 50 feet of shoreline on some days.  I'll go back to power fishing when the bass get a little more active.

Any ideas for a fly fisherman in these conditions?  What flies/presentation do you think would give me a decent shot at bigger fish?  I slow stripped a small clouser at Beech last saturday for an hour or so .... picked up 3 dinks but that was about it.

Sinking or intermediate line......something fat (crawdad) vs long and sloooooow like Curly said.

Glad you caught a few, I may beed to throw the long rod before winter comes in a few days.
