BDC 7-18

As some of you know, my work and travel schedule has been at an insane pace since February. In addition, I've been pretty committed to playing soccer once or twice a week to stay in shape. As a result, I've had little remaining time or energy to fish and the kayak has been sitting in my basement as many of you saw it back in February.

Well tonight was the first step in changing all of that. I didn't leave the house until after 6:00 pm but was on the water at BDC Reservoir by 6:30. After about 2 or 3 casts I got my first hit. It was a big white perch that tried to get frisky with my crankbait. A few casts later I hooked up good. The fish was so strong that I knew I must have had him foul hooked. Sure enough it was hooked in the side of the head and weighed 3lb 2oz. Turns out I hadn't lost the touch after all.

I hunted around a few spots and then got my second bass. This one was a nice chunky fish and went 3lb 14oz. I tried a few different lures but could only get hits on the crankbait today. Just as the sun was setting I got my 3rd one and it weighed 3lb 2oz also.

I finished the the day with a nice healthy 2lb 2 oz fish and a short that was under a pound. The fish were aggressive and were all in approximately 14 to 16 feet of water.

It's nice to be back out there. I'm leaving the yak on the truck and going to try to go again Wednesday morning.

Re: BDC 7-18

Probably put in around 0530. I have a light morning so I'm probably good until around 1100.

Re: BDC 7-18

This report motivated me to get out today despite the heat.

Re: BDC 7-18

I got out again this morning for a few hours. It was a late start and I wasn't on the water until 0700. It was also a slow start and didn't get my first hit for about 45 minutes. The first one was on a crankbait and weighed in a 2lb even. It was a fairly slow pick with a flurry of a few fish in the last 45 minutes. I ended up with a total of 6 fish, 4 on the crankbait and 2 on a creature bait. While the average fish was on the smaller side today- 2lb, 2lb 7oz, 2lb 13oz, 1lb 12oz, 2lb 12 oz, I did get one nice pig that hit right around 10:30 as it was getting really hot. Total weight of 17, 11 oz with the best 5 going 15lb 15oz.

5lb 15oz-

Nice Paul.

BTW, I have thrown the Choopy (sp?) some.  Looks good, runs deeper than I thought.

Mike, don't mess with the lip but try bending the eye down a bit. It will raise it up a bit and possibly increase the wobble to it.

Rob, Will call you later.
