Pavilion Lake Report - May 3 and 5

I hit the Pavilion lake on Saturday and Monday.

Saturday: Used a drop shot and texas rigged worm to catch 17 suspended bass. Most casts were 30yds out with a slow retrieve off of slight drop offs. Fish were caught shallow as well, but not with the same consistency. Biggest fish eclipsed 12in and weighed 1lb+. The wind was key on Saturday as it activated the baitfish and the bass. This led to roaming bass who were willing to chase a bait.

Monday: Repeated the drop shot technique and texas rigged worm to catch 8 bedding bass. The pattern here was to cast beyond the beds, slowly drag the bait past the bed to activate the bite. I saw one decent bass that probably went 2.5lb+ but couldn't trigger a bite. Sight fishing was not as effective if the bass could see you, so the beds were identified, I moved out of site, and then cast and retrieved to generate the bite. This was the most successful pattern for me. The deep bite was off and the shallow bite required immense patience. I also hooked into one over zealous bluegill.

There were a good number of anglers out each day.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
