Home pond

Went to my mom's for dinner after work today, but prior to dinner I fished for two hours at my 'home pond'.
Despite the creek feeding the pond being very clear, the pond was as muddy as it was when I was a kid.  Not such a bad thing really.  I started with a fire tiger Bomber A but because it's so shallow and there is so much junk on the bottom I was always pulling up leaves and muck.  But I did have one bass hit it just before I yanked it from the water.  The fire tiger Bomber A has always been good here.

I then switched to a black spinnerbait with copper blades to suit the muddy and windy conditions.  It wasn't long before I land the first one at 4:45, decent sized fish.

Then about 15 minutes later in one corner of the pond it got slammed.  I thought I had a really good bass on but it was actually this 20" cat.

It really tweaked the spinner bait.  Once I got it straightened out it was just a few more casts til I landed another bass. Not quite as big as the first.

After that I managed to snag a small green sunfish.  Then I worked my way down the other side of the pond.  I gave the fire tiger bitsy minnow a try to see if any sunfish would take it.  Nope, just a dink.

I switched back to the spinner bait and tossed it out in front of some trees crowding the edge of the pond. Jackpot!  Biggest bass I've caught here.
18" 3lbs.

The were a few other guys fishing about 100ft away when I caught it. They were impressed.

Went back to my starting point for a little bit before heading home and tried the spinnerbait with no luck. So I tried my silver/green little cleo since a silver/green spoon had always worked for me in this pond.  I got hung up on something and walked around the edge and freed it.  Made a few casts from that spot and caught another bass, about 11". Didn't bother with a picture.  6:00pm and dinner was ready.

I'd call this my best day ever at this pond.  Seems like the size structure is fairly decent.  Maybe the cats keep the bass population in check.
