Pavilion 7-17 morning

Fished 9:30-11:30 with a fluke.  Ended up with 10 bass.........all on the south shoreline.  No bites anywhere else?  Four of the bass were decent running 1.5-2.5 lbs.  Pics below.........

Re: Pavilion 7-17 morning

I'm thinking about checking out Pavillion in my yak this evening.  I want to see what the depths are like.

I bet the pond near my mom's house is even worse than Cedar.  It was bad before it even got hot.

Re: Pavilion 7-17 morning

I fished Pavillion from about 7 to 9:30.  Got 10 bass and two sunfish.  The sunnies were the last ones caught, I actually thought I would've caught more.
I caught the bass on a green pumpkin 5" pro Senko, black/green ring worm, bitsy minnow and a firetiger Bomber A. The biggest was 11" on the bitsy minnow.  I caught them first in the NE cove, then along south shore between the Pavillion, in between the apts by the bridge and then just past the bridge.  Then I went straight across to the north side and caught a few more.  Some of my catches were on back-to-back casts.  The deepest water I found was 17ft between the fountain and drain.

I also hooked a fry of some kind with the bitsy minnow.  Maybe a world record for smallest catch with lure.

Re: Pavilion 7-17 morning

hey t

did we find any deep cover in the marina/ fountain/drain area?

were the any distinct depth transitions, -basically any fish magnets out there ?

i caught a 2# crappie in that area e few weeks ago

my gut says there must be some big fish that use that area, moving up and down the water column as necessary, holding on bits of cover, depth transitions, or even suspending as conditions warrant

Nope, really plain.  Gradually deepens, then flat.

Going off my memory it's like this.

I'll probably go out again Monday or Tuesday evening and check out the west end.

The area I shaded in red.........fish that from your yak with a pig-n-jig and you'll catch some big fish.  It drops off drastically there from a huge 1-2' shelf.  Almost impossible to reach that deep water from shore.

Alright, I'll see what I can find there.  Just got back from my mom's, I was wrong about the pond there.  Apparently the HOA has been doing something about it.  There is now an aerator at one end. I haven't been to the other end to check it out yet.  The massive clumps of millfoil were not present and there wasn't much algae either.  A little bit of dye might have it looking really nice.
