2-18-08, Lake Anna, the "hot" side with Charley Taylor

For years, I have been trying to go fishing with Charley Taylor and we finally pulled it off today!

I met him at 7 AM (waited for the ran to pass through) and we headed on down to Lake Anna. The weather forecast was all over the place....I don't think any of the weather folks got it right except for the wind. When we got there, it was blowing 15+!

Our target was largemouth bass. We would use jerk baits, swim baits, metal, jigs with and without pigs: we threw shallow and deep and in points in between!

But Charlie decided to go to a 1/4 ounce green/gold rattletrap and he started catching fish.....

.....and he kept catching......five bass before I had any pullage! He was schooling me right under my nose. I finally switched over to  the lure of the day and managed to catch this little Mr. Whiskers!

But my skunk was off (many hours after Charlie had his 1st fish) and now I needed to catch a bass...which I did with that same rattletrap!

Final tally was Charlie with 6 fish and Ernie with two fish.

The weather was perfect (it got to 70) and Charlie managed the boat beautifully to avoid most of the wind. The water temps were between 64-69 degrees...in February (the hot side will do that).

Great day on the water....thanks for taking me Charlie!  cool
