12-11-09, CBBT report

The four of us (Rob Allen, Carl Cisky and Curly) drove down this morning with a faint chance of whetting a line due to high winds and rough seas. Most charter Captains out of Kiptopeake (north of CBBT) cancelled their trips today.

We got some intel that perhaps we could fish out of Lynhaven (south of the CBBT).

And fish we did. It was cold, windy and wavy when we started an noon but we managed to figure things out. It was slow at 1st but when we quit at 4:30, we had boated 60+ stripers up to 27 inches and none under 18 inches.

There were very few boats out but we were careful and played it smart. Today was a bonus for sure.

Saturday now looks iffy so it makes fishing today that much better. But the crew is tired!!

Pictures at 11!

Re: 12-11-09, CBBT report

Here is a good summary from Rob:

Friday- we launched from Lynhaven at noon and went directly to 1st island. It was blowing 15-20 from the west so it was slow going but not dangerous. N othing doing at the island  and fishing the pilings was not a safe option butttttttttt.... we found birds on the bay side of the bridge up to 2 miles west, both scattered and concentrated. We caught 63 stripers from 21 - 27 inches....fat and aggressive!!

1 oz and 1.5 oz bucktails were hot....tipped with a BKD or Bass Assassin....chartreuse, yellow and white were all pretty good. I think the BKD really helps, in my opinion, as I think it keeps the bait in the strike zone better. We were with only a few boats on Friday so it was nice.

Carl kooks up 1st!

Then Rob hooks up!

Curly caught a few too but somehow I forgot to get his mug!. I landed several nice ones as well.

This was a cool sight!

And this is what was given to us as we headed back in!

The infamous Bass Kandy Delights served with a white sauce over virgin egg noodles.. A touch of safferon just to excite the senses.

Dan is your left leg longer than your right now?

As the good Capt. said, Bass Kandy Delights...similar to Bass Assassins but sturdier.
