11-17-07, PRAC Fall Tournament

Curly and I are headed down to Cobb Island on Friday to perhaps prefish the tournament which is on Saturday. The weather has turned against us (cold and windy) and 2 of our crew members dropped out!

I have fished their tournament (one in the fall and one in the spring) several times and have YET to catch a fish trolling teh big stuff. Apparently, Curly is as hardheaded as me. There is some decent prize money (1st-5th place) but all I want to do is catch a fish!

Stay tuned for the updated report (Sunday).

Ernie

PS- Wish us lots of luck.....we.will need it!

Re: 11-17-07, PRAC Fall Tournament

We'll...the results are in. The weigh in was to be no later than 4 PM but Curly and I misjudged how much time we would need to get back and we were 15 minutes late!!

But no one cared because we did not have a fish to weigh in....again! That now makes 5 PRAC tournaments that I have been SKUNKED...this is getting old.

Curly and I pulled 9 lines using a friend's planer boards. We had a nice spread out but all we did was strain water all day. We trolled for 8 hours without a single knockdown....very aggravating. We marked plenty of bait and fish but this would not be the day.

Capt. Jeff Hammett, who is a good friend, took 2nd Place as well as winning the Calcutta. He took home (or I should say that Kim took home) $1000!

Here is the winning couple:

It was cold this morning and slightly rough but a very fishable day.

No excuses!!

Re: 11-17-07, PRAC Fall Tournament

And one more thing! We have been trying to see who it is we should leave home so we can catch some fish in this tourney!

Here are the match ups for the past tournaments:

2005 Spring crew: Ernie, Bev Carroll, BC Colbus
2005 Fall crew:  Ernie, BC Colbus, John Sexton
2006 Spring crew: Ernie, Bev Carroll but we did not fish due to weather
2006 Fall crew: Ernie, Capt.Jeff Hammett (on his boat), Josh Turner, BC Colbus, John "Curly" Casale
2007 Spring crew: Ernie, Bev Carroll
2007 Fall crew: Ernie, Curly

You decide who is the "unlucky one".

Re: 11-17-07, PRAC Fall Tournament

What is causing the bad luck in the PRAC tournament?  That sounds familiar, 8 hours of trolling and no fish. I know you will never give up.  Your luck has to change. Sounds like Jeff has this tournament down pat.  How about the 50-50?

Re: 11-17-07, PRAC Fall Tournament

Nothing on the 50-50 and we even had a silent investor! I did win a lure.....

The big fish were caught in deep (50-70') water....we were in 18-35'.

I will keep trying....I may even go down there on Dec. 1 and try it again just to see.....any takers?

And yes, Jeff has this down pat but he fishes down there all the time....trolling is all he does and he is good at it!
