3-22-23, "O"

Bob and I were on the water by 8a and in no time, I had a 2-0 lead!

Was this going to be another beat down! Yep...it was to be! lol

We stayed in the middle for a bit and Bob inched up to tie me...

...and then take a 4-2 lead. No big deal. I can catch him.

It got slow and we had a few boats and yaks (there is a story) in the area but the peace was kept.

One other boat was picking off a few here and there. Another boat didn't get his 1st shad for hours and he was a regular. A newbie to the "O" got skunked. Nice fella and we offered him some advice when we saw him back at the ramp.

Water temps were 47-49dF all day.

I was itching to get up top to my spot and Bob reluctantly agreed.

Here is where the beat down took place. By the time we were done here, Bob held an 17-2 lead. He caught 13 very nice ones up here to my zip!

And the biggie of the day at 17"!

The silver spoon was the ticket for sure. A couple of them took the teaser dart.

We then went back to where we started and we each caught one. I was getting ready to pack it in so we can grab lunch and Bob puts the dagger in me.

He got a DOUBLE!

The 1st of of the year and the 1st of many to come!

Oh, I lost 2 spoons and 2 darts to add insult to injury! lol

We were back at the ramp by 1pmish and at Brickmaker's shortly after.

Yes, lunch was good!

Bob had the brat and I had a grilled chicken w/ peppers and onions.

Oh...the story about the yak. A very nice but very talkative fella kept coming by. As he chatted, we learned that he caught 1500 stripers last year, he was a D1 football player, he was a body builder, he was a trainer and made all of his own special food, he likes to fish down in VA Beach, he likes to  fish for reds...and specs too, he'd never seen a hickory shad before, when he trolls the "O" he would always catch a fish on each pass, he was 62 but could put his Hobie PA14 on the roof of his truck...and on and on and on. Man, I know I can talk but this guy.....WOW!

Another great outing!

It looks like you guys had a blast!  Somehow Ernie deserved to meet such a fellow.  tongue

I always get somebody who likes to drift in front of me when I anchor like 10 times.

I am stuck babysitting contractors this week.  I will get out there soon.

The great thing about the talkative yaker was that he was an equal opportunity yacker. He pedaled his Hobie from boat to yak and back telling his story over and over.
With all of the jack hammers and concrete saws making noise all day he was difficult to hear, but his irritable voice carried for a half mile. Oh.... and the fishing was as good as the Brickmaker's Brat.

Re: 3-22-23, "O"

Great to hear about the shad day at the "O"  I'll get out there very soon and even saw that ComeonFish had a new vid of catching shad there recently.  I have to admit that whenever I run into a chatty kathy I never tell them of this forum....I can only imagine what it would be like on a forum let alone in person.
The food always makes up for the beat down Ernie!!

Great report. I wonder what the difference was during that 13-0 run.
