Cinderella session

Last Monday I was lamenting the winds and another cancelled trip.  While I was feeling sorry for myself, I got a call - Get yer butt up here now!

Buddy I've never met but communicated with for over 20 years called and we finally decided it was time to fish.  Made a few more calls and in no time flat had a seat in two other boats for the next three days.

Day 1 was cold - 32dF.  And the jet boat was a race car.  Jumped into the boat and next thing I knew is we're doing 40 mph up river.  Never been that fast in a boat.  Once we stopped and thawed out it was time.  Tried tubes, jigs, jerks - nothing.  Then pulled out a swim bait and it was game on.  Slow day but ended up with four nice healthy fish

Day 2 started at 48dF and rain.  This boat was not a rocket but was set up real nice.  Started out with swim baits and within 5 casts, fish on.  Turns out the trend continued all day for a Cinderella session. Stopped taking pix after 1200 because we had enough pictures but continued catching until 1700 when we called it a day.

What amazed me is how wide these fish were.  Second pix shows me holding a fish and you can only see my fingertips and arm past the wrist.

Day 3.  Woke up cold, windy and knew there would be work to catch fish.  Was on two rivers in 5 hours and it was slow.  Managed four nice fish in the 16" range but no pix.

Came home, sore, tired, and with bleeding thumbs.  Watta trip!

Re: Cinderella session

What a cool trip! I heard about it from George while we hiked today. He was still beaming!

Excellent coordination to set up 3 trips with 3 guys in 3 days. That's the power of the internet. George knows all of these guys from the now defunct River Smallies Forum.

Well done!!

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: Cinderella session

Awesome trip! You know it's a memorable one when you don't even need to take pictures any more!

Together we'll fight the long defeat.

Re: Cinderella session

Epic work.
It requires a fisherman to understand how extraordinary those catches are.
Beautiful smallmouth, captured with great skill, and then released unharmed.
