Chesapeake tribs: First half of March

It's been a good start to March. I had a solid trip on the 5th, catching 16 specks. Most on homemade twitchbaits with a few jigging a fluke. The highlight of that trip was catching a trout that I tagged last November. The fish was about 9 miles from where I had tagged it. I thought that was super cool. I've tagged close to 1000 trout the last couple years but that's the first time I've ever recaught one of my own.

Last Sunday I caught a slam that I'll probably never top. Early in the day I caught a 25.5" red. It was in rough shape so I just tagged it and released it without a pic. A couple hours later I added a 27.75" speck, and two casts after that I hooked a 46" striper. Out of the three, the red was actually the most surprising because the areas I fish in the winter rarely hold reds over 20". Here's the other two:

I had another respectable slam the same day of 18 red/25.5 trout/27 striper, to go along with 16 more trout from 17-23". I caught a couple on a tube and one on a swimbait, and all the rest and the biggest on my twitchbaits. It was a day to remember for sure.

Hoping the bite lasts a couple more weeks because when they start moving out in April it can get really tough.

Dude!  you're not even holding the fish out away from your body and they look huge!  Also, that is so cool that you caught your own tagged fish and able to identify the location and timeline.  It's days like this that I day dream about.
