Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

So I had the day off from my non-monetary job watching my grandkids. So I went carp fishing. Little chilly and overcast but I had the right tide and a select spot.

Caught four that short day. Had some locals show up and try to help me land carp. I have a net on order but is not here yet. So these old guys (my age BTW)  tried to lift the carp over the rocks and broke off three rigs. I use 14 lb test and the hooks are 8lb test. I was kinda funny as they cussed the big carp as it swam away.

Seems they know somebody who loves to eat them.
After the forth fish I decided to head home and pickup a few things needed for tacos.
In the parking lot was some trash and this box caught my eye.

I have ask myself why and of coarse I really know the answer. But it can not work or can it??

Re: Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

Looks like you've gone all in on the carp tackle. Are you planning to guide shore based  carp trips?

Re: Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

No shore trips but I am researching rods for boat trips. 8 rods and 8 reels with braid is a substantial investment. The rod has to be perfect, the reel not so much.

Still in planning stage.

Re: Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

Tell us more about the rods you have in the holders.  Unique design

And baits, you make your own baits?  Bought boilers?  Or just use bologna?

And yes it works.  My Cuz uses that synthetic stuff all the time.  But it needs to be body temp when the sample is taking and from what he tells me, there are ways ....  Had to crack up at the "Do not drink" warning

Re: Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

The rods are Diawa Mad Dragon rods 12 foot long. Two have a 3.5 rating and one a 3.0 rating and two piece. That 6 foot of folded rod is hard to store in my truck. The reels are called Beast Master 5000. There are 1000 times better than the 4000.
Little joke there.
Line is 14 lb test Berkley Nanofil. The method feeder is 25 grams. Fake corn too.
My packbait is a family recipe from Joe Bruce..One trick is to coat the fake corn in Mayhem Night crawler paste.
Rod pod was 50 bucks from China. Total expense is just under 500.00

Re: Taco Tuesday Carp Fishing Report

Thx Capt

I would fish allot with strip of balogna or other lunch meat.  Berkely trout bait worked too.  Caught some big ones.

Boiler receipts are huge secrets in England.  I bought a batch but I guess Yankee carp don't eat British baits?

That's how I learned to back reel a spinning reel
