John was to meet me at 6:20a at my house but we delayed it as a storm was moving through. We decided to go to our target ramp even though it was raining. We were watching the radar as well. After an hour or so wait, we splashed the boat but a lingering cell came though. We got under the bridge and got a little wet but we were safe from the lightning. Once clear...we went up river.
Once up to where I wanted to start, we went up a creek and came out with nothing. Just before we were going to spot #2, John hooked up with a little guy but he wanted nothing to do with John so he spit the hook.
It was several hours of fishing seams and eddies when I declared that I would not come back to this area any time soon. I was bummed.
Then John said he wanted a snack...
We talked about the banana on the boat lore and he said he didn't believe in it.
Oh yeah? A couple of casts later, he gets his skunk off the boat. It was now 11a!
And then I do!
We fished a few more eddies and nothing.
Now, my batteries were wearing down and it was getting hard to hold a boat. I found a nice area to tuck in to and we had the best 8 minutes one could hope for.
It started with John catching 3 in 5-6 casts.
Then, it was my turn. I got thumped and this 19"er came into the net!
Nice net job by John 'cause this biggun did not want to come to see us!
John managed one more out of this honey hole!
The ticket were white minnow baits, @3".
By now, the TM was on its last legs and we fished some more but we were back on Rt. 15 a few minutes after 1p.
After a short traffic delay, we made out way to Roots 57 and had an incredibly good lunch.
John had a fried chicken salad that looked great and I had a smoked pork and beef sammie on a cheddar jalapeno bread that was outstanding. Not cheap but worth it.
We were really exited about our finish since most of the morning had been painfully slow.
John got 5, I got 2 which included the big fish for the day.
A good trip out indeed!

How many years old were those TM batteries?
Offline
The ones I replaced were purchased on 11-23-18. Not bad...3 1/2 years of use.

As TBDad use to say don't leave fish to find fish.

Yep! I don’t know who that is but I’ve heard that statement many a time. We only left there after we got no more bites after 20 casts...
