Occoquan 4/20/22

After a little late start due to him oversleeping, I got out with my grandson Emerson.  We were on the water around 9am.  Ran up and saw Bob, who motioned us to fish near him.  We anchored just up from him.  After a quick setup and reminder/lesson, Emerson made his first cast and caught his first shad!  We were thinking it would be lights out, but things were steady overall and he struggled to hook fish.  We had fun and I had plenty of snacks to keep him motivated.

He did catch some, including this fat one.

I was doing all the net duty and unhooking, so not many action pics.  There were a few snags and tangles too.  I had Em snap one of this chunk.

And I got a pic of my only landed double.

We fished until around 1:30pm and I caught 30 something and Emerson caught 10.  We talked to Bob before he left and he set a new record.  I will not spoil his bragging rights, but it was well over 100.

We got off the water and had a nice lunch at Brickmakers.  I had a chicken salad and Em had the BLT.

Throw a beard and a tan on that young man in the last picture and you two could be twins
