Over the weekend, I was on a business trip to Woodstock VT. Of course, I brought my 4 wt fly rod to see if I could catch something. On Thursday afternoon, it was set up that I fish the Lakota Club.....
....which is a private trout lake. That's Dan Morgan trying to raise a trout midday (not the best time to fish for trout)
I heard there were some big trout in this lake and I saw one!
A dead one but at least I knew there were trout. needless to say, i did not catch any. Next year, I am coming in a day early so I can fish late in the PM and early in the AM. The place is beautiful!
Driving around, I happened on this part of the Ottauquechee River but it was 165 feet straight down. NO WAY was I going to hike down there.
On Saturday morning, I got about an hour on the Ottauquechee River before breakfast and meetings. The water was clear and about 64 degrees but I never saw a fish!
On Sunday, I was going to try again but Hanna dumped a few inches of rain overnight and raised the river almost 2 feet. NO WAY was I going to get in that fast and discolored water!!
It was a great but fish-less trip. I am already looking forward to coming back next year and try for a keeper trout!

It is just starting to turn and you are right, it's beautiful up there. BUT.....they get 80 inches of snow and it doesn't clear until April!!
