Yesterday, I rigged up 14 outfits (4 push button, 10 spinning) and today, I got to help Joseph Weiler teach 15 Girl Scouts how to cast and fish.
They were ready to roll!
After some hands casting with each girl, we were ready to hit the water.
It was chilly at the start with temps in the high 40's but it got real nice.
The girls rotated between fishing and a nature talk by Theresa from BLM.
While the fishing was slow, two blue bills were caught...
...as well as 2 turtles.
They all had a great time.
The goal was for them to be able to make casts by themselves (spinning and push button)- That was achieved
Another goal was for each girl to touch and handle the worms. After lots of coaxing (and begging) we got that accomplished.
We also had each of the girls touch the fish and the turtles. And we got to discuss a bit about snapping turtles.
To say they had a great time would be an understate,
But I do know this, I will sleep good tonight!
