My wife and I went to visit Tyler (our son) in Charleston for Christmas. My daughter had to back out at the last minute because she got COVID. SUCKS to have COVID over the holidays and be stuck alone at home. I felt terrible for her. Anyway, I got a couple chances to fish with Tyler while I was down there and the weather was amazing!. 70-75 degrees every day. Perfection. Tyler smoked a fantastic Prime Rib Roast for Christmas dinner on his Traeger.
Day after Christmas Tyler and I fished the Goose Creek Reservoir, which is about 5 minutes from his house. Tyler had fished it earlier in the week and caught a 4.5, 5.5, and 7.5 (his new PB) LMB. Tyler was throwing a big 9 inch hard glide bait in a trout pattern. We entered a beautiful bay and that thing go slammed. Fight was on!....until it wasn't. The fish broke the line. Tyler was in the middle of telling me that it was a very big fish and also that the lure was very expensive (but he is expensing it to Shimano). Then the fish jumps way out of the water right behind him with the bait in his mouth. It truly was a BIG fish. Give it a week or 2 and Tyler will be back to win that battle.
He a 1 or 2 other good hits in that bay but couldn't bring them to the boat. I was throwing a 7 inch worm on a shaky head and was just about to complain that my lure wasn't going to catch anything big compared to his lures (because size matters!) and I get a hit. It ended up being a 5.49#LMB, which is my PB. I know 5.49# isn't that impressive a PB. But I am working my way up there. Great fight and got him in the net. Caught a bunch of smaller stuff. But those were the highlights of the day. Pics below:

Tyler won't let me take pics of him if the fish aren't huge. So this is the best I got of him
On Tuesday, we chartered an inshore trip with a guide. Targeting Redfish and trout. Had a great day. Fished the Kiawah and Sono Rivers leaving out of Folly beach, right around the low tide. Got most of our fish amongst the oyster beds. Really unique area. I love sight fishing for Reds!!! We were throwing 4 inch paddletails on a jig head all day. Caught about 5-6 good size (7-10lb) fish each and had another 4 or 5 that didn't make it in the boat. Tyler got the first couple hits and lost them. Finally figured it out and brought a nice one onboard. I was skunked for a while until I figured out the speed and amount of twitch. Then I got on the board. I lost the biggest of the day right at the boat when he decided to make a run as I was working on getting the net. But I saw him and he was very big.

Tyler, fish on in the shallows
I also got to spend some time on the beach reading and walking on a couple gorgeous days. Great way to spend Christmas Vacation. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

All that, plus you got a nice hat for Christmas. Thanks for the report.
You are observant! My new FAVORITE hat. I am lobbying to get paid as a product tester when I go out. That will never happen.

Your right. I let the team down on that one. Where is the food pic????!!!!!! I am sure Ernie is very disappointed in me. But I will tell you, picture the best prime rib you have ever had and that is pretty close to the end result. It was seasoned perfectly about 24hrs ahead of time with Tyler's favorite rub, smoked for about 6-7 hrs, seared on all sides in a cast iron skillet, and rested for about 30-40 minutes.....just right.
