After a country ham and egg biscuit breakfast, we got on the water before 7:30a...

... in hopes of catching some before the winds. The weather was beautiful as we started out. It was 56df...a full 20 degrees warmer than the day before. I was a happy camper.

When we got to the promised land, there were no birds in sight so we had to hunt them down using the sonar. The side scan is a must on the lake. We went up to some known fish holding places but no luck.

We found a couple of small schools and as we shut the motor down and started casting and jigging, the fish disappeared. That fast! The problem was that they were small schools and they were not eating in the bait balls.

This is what we saw...

After much searching, the wind picked up and we started heading back. But we didn't run, we were still searching and doing some scouting for the days to come.

As we were nearing his home port, we decided to put the trolling rods out. Curly never quits trying. But the wind was blowing hard now and blowing leaves in the water. We were 100+' from shore and there were leaves everywhere. It fouled up the lines a couple of times but no big deal. Then bam! We get hit.

I get the rod and have a nice battle going on so Curly reeled in the 5 other rods. We were sure it was a wiper as it was fighting hard and pulling some drag.

We were surprised with a nice fat, 22" striper. He wanted to be a wiper (which are wider and fight harder).

That's at least one striper for each trip. But that was it as it was time to go back as I had to drive to Scottsville (1 hour) to get my boat and then go home (2.3 hours).

After a nice relaxing lunch, I headed out.

I had an awesome time catching up with Curly and Ellen and had an equally great time fishing.

Lake Anna fishing is not easy. It's hard work. Determination is a bonus and Curly has plenty of that.

Can't wait for the next adventure!

Great times!!

Time to go fishin' again!
