9-7-21, Chesapeake Bay

Bob and I put in at SPSP and were on the water shortly after 7:30a.

We hit out 1st spot and...........................NOTHING! Just a few nips. That was hard to believe as this spot is know for giving up a lot of perch.

The water was off color but not dirty. Water temp @75df.

So...we decided to make a 5 mile run to "the house". This area has been known to give up some big perch and also lots of perch as I found out last year.

Sure enough, we caught a bunch!

But just after 10a, the bite seemed to die down.

A little before we left, Bob got slammed and we knew it was not a perch. He was hoping it was a striper but once it surfaced, it was a big ole channel cat. That's when Bob started cursing at it and just like that, the fish came off, to Bob's relief!

We then went in to Lake Ogleton. Our 1st spot started to produce a few fish  including a red fish that got off the hook right by the boat. A couple of casts later, Bob had a nice fish on and we knew that when we saw it. Bob thought it was a 12"er but it measured out at 11.5".

Still, it would be one of this beat 3 fish for the SRRKC White Perch Tourney. He now has the big fish at 13.25" and best aggregate at 37.25". This should be good enough to win it but we still have 23 days to go.

Next stop was Greenbury Point and that was a total bust...again, a known perch hideout.

This croaker was it there!

I was ready to go home so we headed back. But...I had to stop where Paul and I found some nice perch last year. I caught a couple and then Bob gets slammed (and slimmed) again with a really fat channel cat.

We had a lure mishap and all the sudden the boat gets stuck on some rocks...with a fair number of waves smacking into us. We finally got off the rocks and called it a day.

Beautiful day to be fishing.

The perchies in that area are hard to find but we got some.

Bob even caught a spot!

The ride home on the upper part of the beltway was uneventful except all of the traffic which delayed my arrival by 30 minutes or so. I'm not used to traffic anymore....

Time to go fishin' again!

Here perchy perchy perchy. Sorry it wasn't fast and furious but y'all got out on the water; that is always a win!

Glad you got the boat off the rocks

Catching those kitty-fish on light tackle must have been a blast

Catching the kitties is a blast as long as E. takes them off the hook!
