It was a splendid morning (71df) when Bob and I splashed the boat at 5:40a today.

We both had high anticipation of the top water bite as we saw the sun rise...

...but the problem was that we had very little activity. Nor did we see any!

Bob had 2 hits, a missed fish and this trophy!

All came on his new Berkley Choppo.

I had one bite but it was subsurface. Very disappointing.

Also disappointing was seeing a dude on a paddle board come down the river in a Speedo.

So then, we did part of the float again and it was worse. No bites!

We tried up river a bit and the same results.

Finally, we went to the lower part of the chute and Bob quickly connected with 2 LMB...small ones.

We thought this was a good sign but that was it.

I really didn't know what to do so we tried a couple of other places and then just called it a day.

The lack of bites took all the wind out of my sail. I had perhaps 4 bites...some were BGs.

Bob had a few more bites but calling today slow would be appropriate.

Very disappointing but as we both said, we would rather try and fail than not try at all. Plus we were out on the water on a pretty nice (but smoky) day.

We saw lots of critters flying and fishing.

Sorry to hear. I am struggling at this huge lake as well. I had to take Christian out for a couple hours to show me how to catch some (bluegills and sunfish).

Still no grass?

Canada and west coast. It was smoky, hazy but you could not smell it.

River level was 1.5’ at POR. Water temp was 80-81df. I saw no grass but lots of floating moss.

hahaha! Speedo. I was at gravely point last night to waiting to pick up my wife from the airport and it was packed with young people. And although there were no speedos....there were several thongs! Really surprised me. I was too shy to take pics. I know....pics or it didn't happen.

I saw that dude. You should have hung around and watch him load his paddle board on his vehicle in his speedo. At one point, I thought the speedo turned into a thong.

I would have preferred seeing the thongs that distracted you when you couldn't back the boat trailer into the water
