6-24-21, UP

I was still asleep when John got to the ramp...

Bob and I did meet up at 6:20a and were on the water shortly thereafter. Then...I heard some guy yell at me. Fight time? Nah...it was George just finishing up his hike. We chatted a bit and off we went. But I had to come back as I left my food and liquids in the SUV.

We motored out slowly, and decided to try some top water on the other side of the 1st island.

It didn't take too long and Bob got smacked but no hook up.  Frustrating (not the last time we would be) but promising.

He was throwing a Whopper Plopper, I was using a black/yellow little sammie.

I heard a whoosh and Bob was hooked up!

It was time to head up river as I wanted to fish where Bev and I caught a few a couple of weeks back.

We did make a couple of stops One of them was to chat with John who was still exited about catching an 18"er on a crank. Good on him!

Then on one of the stops, Bob got into the channel cats!

It was here where I got slammed by something and immediately broke off.

Bob would have the same thing happen twice, later.

We finally got to where I wanted to go and we stared throwing stuff behind some rocks. After a bit, I got hooked up and he ran right for the rock. He came out of the water as I drug him over the rock and got off. Then, he took an areal position as if to say, "I won"!

A few minutes later I hooked into a 13"er.

Sadly, we got very few bites here and were disappointed and frustrated.

We zigged zagged the river trying to find some activity but got none.

Then, Bob told me we had a full moon last night. Heck, I should have just slept in! But it was a beautiful day indeed. High pressure is not our friend either.

This guy owned the river!

Bob was not so happy that I got so close.

We tried some more proven areas and spots but nothing. We even did the XX and Bob did have a decent one swipe at his clown jerk but nada.

We ended up at my island but it was nothing.

The wind kicked up for a bit and made things difficult but we were done. Defeated.

The river is recovering but it will be a while.

We took out at 1:30p and as I was bringing Bob in to get the SUV, I sucked in some mud and my engine quit peeing! Arrgh! Frustration level now high!

We worked on the pee problem while on the trailer and Bob snaked a wire to semi unclog it. I knew there was something in there still.Potomac dirt Blowing it out did not work so I sucked it like a straw and ate some Potomac dirt. It's fixed!

Water was slightly stained. More towards seem of the MD side, as usual. But that was not the issue. We are in recovery mode and every fish caught is a bonus!

This is incredible. I forgot that I took a pic from my cell as we were launching.

It's virtually the same pic John took but an hour later.

And thanks again for the hat Bob. It definitely keeps the sun off the face.

Heartbreaks and frustration.  At least you caught a few and were on the water on a beautiful day.  Encouraged that there are some big critters in there somewhere.  I was lazy and hooked more than a couple just dragging behind the boat.

Nice!  I heard he got me too, but I never got the info.  He took a video of me taking off a couple years back.  Cool colors with the sun coming up and residual fog!
