No...it ain't over yet. Not even close.

Not one boat in the lot when we got there at 7:30a. But it was chilly and I was fussin'!

Bob and I were catching by 8a but it was not as hot and heavy as last week. Still...we caught a bunch!

We started a little lower than normal (still above the footbridge) but moved up almost immediately. Good move!

Doubles galore!

Green snot was a factor today but mostly annoying. Not as bad as when Bruce and Roney were on the boat.

There was a ton of current with tons of water spilling over the dam.

And with the wind, it was a fast running tide. At the end, many "new" rocks were exposed or visible. Never seen them before.

We saw John out there and he was having a good day. He caught a nice one in the 18" class and some more.

Around noon, another boat came up. A fiberglass skiff. He got stuck on a rock, but we thought he had done it on purpose. After a while, it was evident that he was stuck and was going to be there a while since the tide was still going out and the wind was aiding it.

I decided to go help him after a small boat with an air cooled engine could not budge him. Easy job for the big jet.

Later, I heard him talking to John and he was stuck again. John tried to help but this guy needed a few more horsepower to break him free. So...we obliged. Again.

He thanked me and wanted to give me one of his hot lures. I said, "we are good, thanks, we just caught over 100"!

Anyway, the final tall was 52-51 with Bob making a furious comeback at the end (I was starving) to come within 1 before we called it quits. And the fish were still biting!

John was still out there after we retrieved the boat and had lunch. Hard core!

I even caught 4-5 on the fly rod!

Lunch was good. Bob got the brat again...

and I got the chili and a tuna sammich that was excellent and filling!

Great job! I was having technical issues with my rigs early on and the wind made re-tying no fun. Good thing I brought 4 rods. I arrived about 8am and Ernie and I were the only vehicles in the lot. We were the only boats for a good while.

I pulled up just below where Ernie and Bob were. It was definitely not as good a spot. I finally pulled up across from them and the fish were sporadic, but fun. I caught a few heavy fish and that one Ernie took a pic of was heavy and at least 18". I was using 4 pound test and UL to light rods. They were a blast. That guy in the skiff was a piece of work. Getting stuck twice and pulling up right behind me. He caught quite a few while he was near me on his gold spoon.

After Ernie bailed him out the second time and headed back, I realized that I had not eaten lunch and it was about 2pm. I ate my sandwich and cast out and hooked a good double. The bottom fish broke me off, but the top one was a heavy 17"+.

I ended up breaking off one on another double after that. That left me with a double shad dart rig that I had not caught any fish in all day. The fish were biting and I caught another 4 or 5 fish in that one area. My total ended up being 43 in the boat.

I was off the water about 3pm. There were some good sized fish in the mix today for sure.

Thanks again E, another great day. Through the year we fish for lmb, smb, white perch and pickerel. I really love it all, but the hickories are the icing on the cake. By far my favorite fish to catch. Even with the cold mornings and cigar smoke I'll take them over the rest. A good lunch spot next to the ramp doesn't hurt either.

We still have a few more weeks before it wanes.

Today, most of my fish came on the top lure with the green Gitzit (1/16 oz) being the winner. But you had to get deep.

Oh...he got me back. He clobbered me when a fish came off and the darts smacked me on the side of the head. This is getting serious now. Luckily, I had my buff on!

Good catching gents. Are you all hitting up the O tomorrow?

I went out for crappie today out of Gravelly but couldn't find anything other than small catfish. I'm planning on taking my dad to the O tomorrow for shad and maybe some crappie by the bridge.

I totally absolve myself of any responsibility, the shad did it and I'm sticking to my story.
