11-14-20, Chesapeake Bay

Because of a windy morning forecast, we decided to start late (10:30a) and fish until dark.

Jamie and I drove to Ches. Beach and were to meet up with John at the ramp. We would be fishing with Capt. Dale.

Right as were were getting there, we got the dreaded call that the boat was not peeing thus, it was out of commission.

We met up at the lot and commiserated a bit and then Dale says, "get your stuff, were going with Travis"!

Well, Travis is a friend of Dale and was gracious enough to let us get in his boat. He had a crew of 3 and we had a crew of 4 but no worries, Travis has a 27' Judge with a 300hp motor. Sweet ride!!

So we all met each other and away we went.

The wind had not laid down yet and it was sporty but the boat handled it well. Drifting was tough because of the waves (tide vs wind).
But we were happy 'cause we were fishing!

We caught a few smallish fish on the western side but it was just not fun with the waves (and small fish) so we ran over to the Choptank where we could tuck in out of the north wind.

Before we got there, we found some birds and some nice marks as well as a few fish. There was no way I was going to take a pic in the 3' rollers. We would all be on one side and when we saw the waves, a couple of us would have to move in order to not get swamped.

We left and went deeper into the Choptank.

Once we got there, we had some bird shows!

And we caught fish!

He had the hot hand for sure!

And more birds!

The best lure was a G-Eye jig with a bright neon chartreuse paddle tail...kinda like this one.

We caught a fair amount of fish and many keepers up to @23-24"! But it was not easy...sometimes it was frustrating. They are definitely starting to fatten up.

As the sun started to drop, we crossed back over and looked for more fish but only found a couple before we lost our sun.

The ride home...

...was great. Having a boat with twin big screens (fish finder, gps etc) and a radar made the semi dark ride easy.

This is how we left Dale's boat...

Great day to be out and we caught some fish on someone else's boat. Pretty cool!

That's 2 Saturdays in a row with boat issues...

It's rare that I go fishing on a Saturday. Is there a message there?
