Took too long for science and ASMFC to catch up with what the rec. fishermen already knew. There's a reason why trophy seasons have been down for the last several years. Populations came back in the 80's with a total moratorium, maybe the current harvest restrictions will be good enough for another come back. Here's hoping.

Do not like the slope of the trend line

Bob is right...we've been sounding the alarm for years as we could clearly see the slippery slope.

I used to do an annual summer charter for schoolies with my family, and even went out for the trophies once in a while, but no more. There's no fun in it when you know they're hurting.

Agreed, the only time I go after them now is late fall. When they are fat and sassy! But I release them anyway.

Sad to see.

Yikes, that is really poor recruitment given how many large fish are still in the system compared to the 80's and 90's. I know the biomass is way lower than "it should be", but far less fish produced more YOY in the past.

Tell all those bay striper fishermen that there are NO stripers in LKA!
