10-1-20, 'doah

John and I met Travis Edens at 8 and after running the shuttle, we were on the water before 9a!

The 'doah is a beautiful place to fish for sure...

The day began with a slight chill but it was sunny in the am and then cloudy in the pm.

John got the skunk off quickly!

And I followed shortly after...

All of these were on the fly.

Then, Travis made a stop and went inot the woods. He came back with this...

Anyone know what this is?

More fish and scenery...

Lunch was relaxing, just down form the falls. Italian Subs, pasta salad, fruit and cookies.

Fishing for the first 2/3 of the trip was kinda slow but we scored a few including a bunch of nice BG's which were camera shy.

Since it was kinda slow, we decided to go top water...weird but fun.

I got slammed!

It was on a 'doah blue Walt's Popper.

Long day of fly casting but the company was great and the weather was spectacular!

Water temps were between 66-68df.

Definitely not a numbers day (John had more than me) but a satisfying day. It had been a while since I caught a smallie...and these were on the fly!

Yes indeed...and they are delicious. Immediately brought me back to Cuba when I tasted it since it was similar to guanabana. Both are tropical fruits and paw paws flourish in our region.

We said the same thing. We were on the water until around 6p...long but satisfying day.

My arm was whooped throwing the long stick all day but it didn't matter.

A full day of fishing with that kind of scenery? Sounds sublime! What do paw paws taste like?

A little like a ripe mango but more like guanabana. Probably a cross between mango and banana.

When ripe, delicious. When close to ripe...not as good.

Timing is perfect now for pickin'! Just gotta find them.

Lots of pawpaw trees along Goose Creek but I didn't see any fruit a few days ago.
