Bev and I were fishing before 8a...
... but took a break to stand for the Anthem that gets played at the Naval Academy. These two knuckleheads have been frinds for a long time.
I wanted to try some of the waters that Bob and I fished for the 1st time last week and add a couple of stops as well.
Fishing was very slow at 1st, especially at the "house" I that I was looking for. Last week, Bob and I spend some time looking for both visually and on Google earth. Well, I found it today and the monster perch that supposedly hang out there were not there.
Still, Bev took the skunk off here.
I did as well shortly thereafter.
We tried this shoreline a lot and got one here and there but slim pickins!
Water temp started at 71df and ended the day at 74df.
Around 10:30a, we decided to go in the new found creek and at the 1st cove we struck out at 1st. Bob and I caught a lot in this cove a few days back.
I decided to renter it and we did well.
Then we left and went to another nice spot and caught a bunch.
I wanted to show Bev where Bob had caught that nice redfish so we went there and caught some nice 10"ers. Then Bev gets slammed and I could tell it was a red...
..about 13" or so. He was happy!
It was now past noon and we didn't bring lunch so we need to make a few more stops before we headed in. The next stop was at the 1st stop but just down bay from it. I stopped at a jetty and got slammed on my Loomis GL3 UL 6' rod. This fish was taking line. What a blast!
He went 21.5"!
We fished some more and Bev got another 10"er...
...but we could not find any of the big ones.
All in all, while slow at times, we caught a mess of perch plus the bonus fish.
We enjoyed subs from Ledo's for the ride home and reminisced about a good day.
The trolling motor never worked today, even with me smacking it before we got started. It is now off the boat (not an easy task) and will be on the way to she shop tomorrow.
Oh...I forgot to add that it was very chilly (54df) this morning. I am not ready for the cool weather!

Good job and nice striper! I am hitting a rez tomorrow. I have to re-schedule my surgery due to complication from new COVID regs. Will reschedule for Reston instead of Bethesda. Still not sure when my dad's funeral will be, but soon.

Nice striper and good times with old friends

Update on TM- Both of the local TM shops have a 4-5 week delay for getting their work done. Good for them (good business), bad for me. So after talking to Danny Grulke, he made a couple of call to his boys in PA and I took the TM to Hanover PA...B & B Lures Tackle Shop. They seem like nice folks...let's hope they can do the job.
While there, I asked the fella about reel service. He charges $30 for a cleaning. I thought that was kinda high and then he took me to the back of the shop. This dude takes the reel completely apart and cleans every part, replacing what is worn. Very thorough.
And, the bonus was getting some local food fare at Texas "Hot Weiner" Lunch. Man it was messy! But so good....soft bun, grilled dog, mustard, chili sauce and lots of onions.

Dam ... that lunch sounds good
I have three reels he can replace what's worn

Long way to travel for service. At least you got a good meal out of it.

I bet he gets another on the next trip. Good luck on the repair.

The good luck is they can fix it...for about 1/2 the cost of a new one.
They guys said that it looked like the TM had been in an accident. Yep, quite a few of them!
Should be ready in a couple or 3 weeks...

That TM deserves hazard pay.

I got 4 1/2 good years out of it. My boat is heavy and we put that motor to work for sure! I bet the saltier water didn't help either.

Seriously Ernie....the way you use the TM 4 1/2 years is pretty good! lol

Ever consider getting a trolling motor for salt water?

Maybe the next one but there is not much difference except this (plus more $$): Each lower unit is grit-blasted, aluminum coated, then powder coated for the ultimate protection against oxidization and rust.
My lower unit didn’t rust. Water got into it as the seals wore down. And as already discussed, I beat the crap out of the TM.

TM is back...looks brand new! I wonder how long that will last...
Now the boat goes down to Scottsville on Monday to get some other "stuff" fixed. Should be good to go in a couple of weeks.

All right now
