8-26-20, Severn River

John and I were on the water and fishing before Reveille and the Anthem.

There was a NW wind which chopped the water a bit at Greenburry Pt so we decided to try the bay side of the towers. But...NO water!

The NW winds overnight (and the remainder of the wind) pushed a bunch of water out of the bay and river. As a matter of fact, at high tide (11:30a), it looked like low tide.

Anyway, we got John his 1st perch on the spinner bait

I was able to catch a monster striper...

...while John got a really nice 14"er!

We tried a few places on the inside wall and caught a few.  I was able to get the big perch of the day at 11.5"!

We decided to go to Martin's pond and this is where John went to town. He caught many a perch in here!

And then I got a red!

The water was too low to try Brewer Pond we packed it up and were going to finish in Spa Creek but something drew me to the mouth of Weems Creek.

We caught a couple in the south side shade but I went over to the sunny side and John kept on catchin'!

In a small cove, where John caught a few more, I caught a pickle!

I then got hung up and I banged my TM again and nothing. The blade would not turn, even after shutting down for a bit. So...we packed it up and went back to the ramp. It was time anyway.

At the ramp, we fiddled with the TM some but no love.

When I got home, I decided to give the motor housing a few raps and lo and behold, the blade turned. Let's just hope it works on Friday.

Great day out even with the low water conditions.

As I told John, a slow day (he caught close to 40) of perch fishing is still a great fishing day!

You had a nice day for fishing. Too bad about the tides, but at least you had a good catching day. Congrats on the 11.5.

You've been mean to that poor trolling motor since day 1 when you snapped a blade in the O. Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin (thinks it's a Timex)

Nice trip, rat reds are a lot of fun on light gear.

Re: 8-26-20, Severn River

Fun day for sure!  Always good to get out with Ernie.  I had a great time.  I had not been on that water for many years and Ernie was a great tour guide.  George's jigs and spinners caught most of my fish.  I only had my lightest rods with 4 pound test, so all the fish were sporty.  That red was a blast and put up a good fight!

I got Ernie's gear all tangled when I dropped the pickerel near his feet.  While he was untangling everything, I caught 4 more perch in a hole.  I stayed quite as to not aggravate him. roll  Ernie treats his TM like an ATV.  Glad it survived.

Thanks for another great trip!

Thinking back, I have not been too kind to that TM! But it has done a splendid job of getting me in and out of tight places.
