It's a beautiful morning!

Bob and I were on the water by 6:10a. We saw very little surface activity but we both started throwing top water. But 10 minutes later I switched to a swim paddle and this 9.5" smallie nibbled my lure and got stuck!

The crew hatch was on today...lots of kids learning their craft. Good to see them out at 6a!

After trying a few more places, we decided to head up river.

The river is pretty low and stained in some places but overall it looked good.

However, the water was 85-87df  for the time we were there.

As we drifted around John's island, I was able to connect with a nice 13"er...

..but that was it.

Not sure if we had any more smallie bites. Bob was getting pecked at by blue gills a couple of times.

By 9a, it got hot. They called for 5-6mph winds...NOT! Zero wind!

By 10a, we were roasting so we took a drive to cool off and came on in.

I did see one smallie when we were using the TM to get downriver. And saw some bait but we still have no grass and very few fish around.

Time for a rest from smallies and time to go chase some white perch....

Time to go fishin' again!
