7-7-20, UP

Often, the weatherman says one thing and bad things happen.  Last night, we had some boomers, a light show and a ton of rain!

Bob and I met up at 5:45a and we splashed the boat shortly thereafter. He said that the water looked muddy. I could not see that since I had my sunglasses on already.

Anyway, we decided to start at the tip of the 1st island. Bob was throwing a buzz bait and got nailed. It was 6:05a! The fish jumped twice and as Bob tried to restrain it near the boat, he jumped a 3rd time! Gone...

Nice way to start the morning. No more hits there so we went up river...just a bit.

Bob then caught a few on the shore line.

After a while, we decided to drift the deeper water off my island. Bob scored on a nice, fat and healthy 15"er!

He then caught another small smallie and a blue gill. Me? No fish yet!

Bob then said if I had tried Location X at any time this year. Heck, I don't think I stopped there last year. Regardless, we went up there.

In the bowl, I got hammered by this feisty cat!

Then, a battle ensued when a 2.5lb, 17" smallie took my BPS Swimming Shad on my L rod!

I was so exited that we took another pic!

By now, it was near noon. The day had been perfect for fishing. Lower temps, cloud cover and a light S wind to slow our drift some. We both were exited about the lack of heat. The weatherman was wrong for the morning.

We ended up catching a couple more...

...and were exited with the results. Bob had 5 smallies and a BG and I had 3 smallies and a kitty.

10 fish!

We will take it!

Off the water before 1p.

BTW, we each had a couple of good hit and misses as well. At one point, Bob was dangling his lure to see what the depth was and a smallie attacked it 3 times...but did not hook up.

So glad that we have a few fish after all.

It was near perfect but when we got back tom the ramp, it was latte! I crossed Broad Run (just up river from the ramp) and it was flowing hard and dirty. We missed it because we mainly fished the MD side...and the Monocay crap had yet to reach us.

I did not... even looked in Spam folder. I did find a bottle after JC alerted me to where it was. Luckily, I was in the right place at the right time. The 6-8 bottles that store got were gone in less than an hour from opening.

Fantastic to see!  Glad the trip was worth it.  Keep them safe for me until I return from FL.  Will not go out this week.

We felt it when we got off the water and were putting the boat away around 12:30ish. The morning was spectacular though. Glad weatherman missed the mark on that one...

Re: 7-7-20, UP

I was fishing yesterday as well, below you a little bit.
Definitely a fishy feeling on my SUP paddle out to my spots. Low cloud cover had them chasing wakebaits and Mepps spinners for me. Also got a few on my trusty green pumpkin tubes rigged on George's 1/8 oz jigheads.
Wound up boating 6, missed that many as well, 1 of course being the big one, maybe 18".
Soon as the sun peeked out it shut down. Maryland side was nice and green. VA side not so much.
