I was not planning on going out today, but saw the weather looked good and my wife said sometimes the trips I do not plan are the best. So I headed for Whites Ferry and got on the water around 10am. This is what the ramp looked like:
I started near the Ferry on the VA side. I got no bites for a long time. I decided to float down and worked the island. After I ate my lunch, I put a jointed fluke on an underspin hook and finally caught my first fish since January!
I was pumped. I floated down some more and started working shoreline eddies with a weedless ned rig and hooked a good one.
It was just shy of 16 inches, but thick! A couple casts later in the same spot, I hooked another.
And one more before I left that spot.
After that I floated down to the next eddy and got one before I floated out.
It was 13", but hefty.
No more bites and I headed back to the Ferry by around 4:30pm or so. 5 fish total and I had the river to myself until about 3pm or so. Saw 2 other boats.

Nice! I had planned on fishing the Goose Creek area of the river today, but an online work meeting changed that. But tomorrow I'm getting out somewhere.
