With high expectations (predicted warm temps, clear water, full moon, blue bird skies and a high pressure system), Bruce and I launched out of POR around 9:15a. We decided to go down river for a bit
We found lots of rocks, deep holes, boulder fields and eddies but not a hit to be had.
We did see an eagle, 5-6 trains and lots of wildlife. At one point, we saw another boat! And...a bizillion carp!
I will say that the conversation was definitely lively!
After that dry spell and taking off my jacket, we decided to run up river...all the way to the power lines just below Lander. I wanted Bruce to experience some skinny water jetting!
We fished hard...lots of targets.
Apparently, theses Upper Potomac River fish are not there or they did not read Ken Penrod's book. Every place that I said there would be a fish (that's what Ken said) came up empty. Except one time. I had the rod in one hand, a stogie in the other and I was trying to maneuver the boat with the remote when I got a bite.
Coincidentally, Bruce happened to be looking back and saw my rod bend. By the time I set the hook...too late.
We decided to eat lunch as Bruce had brought a couple of hoagies from Weis. We split the Italian one and it was GOOD!
So wee fished some more and just before 2p, I declared the...
Pepe is laughing a lot these days...but Bruce and I had a good time for sure!
BTW, water temp was 44df when we started and 47.5df when we finished.

Day out on the water is better than a day at work still....skunk or no skunk. That Italian Hoagie made up for it a little though didn't it...lol

I may fuss a bit when the fish aren't coming over the sides but chillin' at lunch with a good sub and then a stogie after is OK by me!
