8-16-19, Chesapeake Beach

Last night, I had 3-4 different plans for white perch fishing today.  We chose to hit CB.

I was not thrilled that we had some E in the wind forecast but it was "supposed" to be light.

I met Bob at 6:40a and soon, we were hitting the jetty.

It was a few minutes later that he told me we had a full moon (OK, 99% full) as well!

WHAT?

The waves were rolling in pretty hard through the jetty. No way we could get out and visit the Spanish house so we started pounding away at the jetty.

IT. WAS. SLOW.

Man, we could hardly buy a bite. Bob finally got the skunk off...

...and then it was my turn.

That would be the last perch for me for quite a LOOOOOOG while.

Bob continued to peck away and caught a perch here and there. And a couple of stripers. He also caught a couple of small croaker...

...and a spot.

I was lamenting as to how slow the perch fishing was. Bob was just there this week and hammered them. Then..I got blasted. I was throwing my XLight baitcaster (MM) and this 22.5" striper nailed it!

Well, that was a thrill.

We hunted around some more and Bob got another striper.

I'm not sure that we (well, Bob) caught a dozen perch.

It was tough to feel the lure and to hold the boat.

It wasn't until noon that things got better (less wind and waves) but we had a date at Ledo's so we went in for lunch.

I had the meatball sub w/ cheese and onions. Bob had the steak and cheese. We were satisfied with our choices.

An uneventful ride home and another perch trip on the books. I hope we never duplicate this one (except for lunch).

Oh, BTW, the upper 'mac at Algonkian was latte on the VA side. The heavy rain last night made mud out of Goose Creek and Broad Run. Interestingly, the MD side was green and crystal clear.

Time to go fishin' again!

Had another great day in the boat with Ernie. Fishing was good, even though the catching could have been a lot better. Lunch at Ledo"s was excellent, and we'll catch em up next time.
