CUBAN RESTAURANT OPENING AT DULLES 28 CENTRE

Cubita Libre will open in late July or early August (where Uncle Maddio's used to be).

I will be there  often to sample all of their offerings...and will review.

Here's their menu: https://www.cubitalibre.com/menu.html

Hmmmm...I must have been asleep at the switch on your post.

Well, double good news!!

Edit- I had a very busy day on the 18th; fishing with Curly in the morning, then the docs (where I got great news) in the afternoon and then a CCA meeting in the evening. roll

NEW CUBAN RESTAURANT CHANGES NAME TO "CUBASI BISTRO".

There is a separate Cuba Libre in DC.

I am hoping it is good but I don't know any Cuban bistros....

Re: CUBAN RESTAURANT OPENING AT DULLES 28 CENTRE

I went on Friday! I was going to text you but was mad busy. It was a luncheon for my team and we got to try a bunch of stuff! Cuban sandwiches on regular bread, cubans on sweet bread (i.e. Hawaiin rolls), cubasi famous roast pork (which is apparently a non-cuban dish, I forget from which latin american country), ropa vieja, picadillo a la habanera, plantain chips, fried yucca, yucca with mojo, sweet plantains, and a fried whole red snapper!!! I didn't take a picture of anything except for the whole snapper, but everything was DELICIOUS!! The sandwiches are stuffed with meat too. I highly recommended this place.

The only con is that the fish took about an hour or more to come out (Did they have to go to Wegmans or something to buy the fish? haha). It came out after we had finished eat, and it was delicious. The batter was so yummy. I'll send Ernie a picture and maybe he can upload it.

The Cubans on the sweeter bread is the Media Noche. Delicious.

Here is the pic of the fried snapper...

Ah thanks for sharing the name of that sandwich! It was definitely everyone's choice over the regular bread.

Just ate lunch and oddly very hungry after seeing the picture. What are the slightly round things on the plate with the fish?

Platanitos maduros, Fried plantains or tostones. All the same just different words.

Green plantain, cut into 1.5Ē rounds and then pan fried. Then, they are smooshed and back to the pan.

Re: CUBAN RESTAURANT OPENING AT DULLES 28 CENTRE

Most  Cubans will select a Cuban sandwich made with real Cuban bread. Over the Media Noche. If the pork is done correctly, you donít want the sweet bread to take away from it. The pork at this place is ok but not cooked the real deal way.
