Upper Potomac 6/5/19

I got out early and tried a buzzbait.  Worked the tail of an island and caught this skinny 18.5"er.

I then worked the head of the next island and could not get bit on top.  Finally caught this 14.5" on a split tail grub (flat tail).

The sun was coming up through the haze, making it a bright red-orange.  The picture makes it look smaller than it was.

I ran up river and tried several different areas.  I got no bites, so I decided to float the island.  I caught a 15"er on a jig spinner with a small Yamamoto Ika bait.

I caught a couple smaller fish on different baits (2 on the little buzzbait) and one that was 13" plus on a tube.  I lost at least 3 on the jig spinner and one on the little buzzbait.  I saw a fox, 3 bald eagles, 2 fawns playing and lots of squirrels and other deer.  I took my time, but bites were few and far between.  I finished with 7 smallies landed as it was starting to sprinkle around 2:30pm.
