Lazy summer afternoon report

Hot summer afternoon onthe Potomac near Algokian

Did not feel like working for fish, so I took some of the frozen herring left over from
fishing at Flecthers this spring and took a nap. Which was interupted by several channel cats. Total of 5 the largest was 25"

Nice boat you got!  How did you set up to troll and how fast did you go?

That is too cool! cool  What a great way to relax!

Yesterday, while walking around Cedar (well, 50 yards on either side of my house) in the heat, I thought about how nice it would be if I was in a boat! I should keep one of my yaks "docked"  at the water's edge!

MEOW! Those things are just nasty looking...but I see them all the time in Goose Creek as well as the Upper Potomac.

At the end of the July 4 float, we saw a guy with a stringer of 5 cats that he took home with him. Thankfully they were only cats and not smallies or lmb.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

I anchored above a hole that is around 5' when the river is at 1.5' at point of rocks

Jeff,

How do you locate catfish "holes"? Do you have a depth finder or something like that to find them? Were you far from the Algonkian Park boat launch?

Have you ever done any catfishing at Beaver Dam before? I heard there is good catfish populations there.

When the water is clear, you can see the deeper holes. i have learned where the holes are by floating down the river many times. There is a real nice one very close to the ramp. I won't post excact location but will show you some time.

i have not catfished at Beaver dam

Jeff

Re: Lazy summer afternoon report

catfish are everywhere, but tend to like to hangout in deeper holes on hot sunny days, but they will venture out to feed.
