4-4-19, UP

Well...John and I didn't really find the spring bite in our area. The fish hid from us. Still, we caught a few but we were bewildered to say the last.

It was a nice 43df morning when we launched around 8a. And it warmed up nicely after a bit.

As we took off, we get a beep and my oil light is going off but that's an easy fix because I always keep a gallon of oil on the boat.

Off to the races!

Our 1st stop was the rocks and we did not get a bite. Funny how "low' water makes things looks different. I can't remember the last time I fished the UP at 4.1'!

We then floated an area that John had some success with.

He got the skunk off with a chunky 14.75 incher!

He then followed it with a 13" incher that as Bob says, "he doesn't know he's a small smallie". What great fish!

We decided to try another area and I scored a healthy 10 incher (yes, 10) on a tube.

I did beat John out for most stick fish for the day...I stopped counting at 7, I think.

John then got a nice 14.25" fighter that we both said was bigger until we measured it.

John will have to let us know what he caught his on.

Then we went on a long dry spell before I got a 12 incher on a cracked Megabass jerk bait. Hey, it still worked!

We decided to fish the bottom of the chute. The water looked great and I was able to mage a 15 incher on the jerk bait.

Not a staged pic either....

But that was our last bite.

I did beat John out for most stick fish for the day...I stopped counting at 7, I think.

John did have 1 fish get off before we could get a look at him. Both of us had very few bites. Just don't know where they are staging.

Water temp was 48-49 when we started and 52ish when we ended.

Off the water at 3.

Time to go fishin' again!

Thanks for the last minute trip!  It was kind of a weird day, but fun to get out.  No question feeling the bites we got and the fish are pulling harder with the warmer water.  I got my last two bites on a smoke purple tube.  No bites on cranks or chatterbait today.  Fish are on the move I think.

Always wishin' I was fishin'

I went out again to day and found the bite to be tough. Scratched out 2 on ned rigs. Gorgeous day .

The ned is quite possibly the most boring rig I've fished, and they hang up ALOT in rocky rivers. However, they do catch fish and worked all winter for me.
