John and I met up at 7:15a with high hopes of replication what he and George did the day before (catching close to 40 fish).

It was crisp but not cold...

....and we were drifting (in lots of fog) the ledges in no time.

As we passed the ledges, John got hammered with a drag puller...but he got off. It was a nice fish for sure. He quickly got the skunk off though....

...with a nice 14.75" on a tube!

We fished some water that we had never fished in a while and we got a bite or 2 but no fish so we headed up river...and we saw this log/trunk sticking straight up out of the water!

At the rocks, John picked up a nice fish (17.25") on a crank.

We then began drifting his island and he landed a few more.

It was a while before I got my skunk off with a nice 15 incher...

...John was relieved. I then caught another one and so did he!

But our bite rally slowed down in the area where they hammered the smallies with a jerk bait. They wanted nothing to do with the jerk bait today...most everything on a tube at this point.

We decided to go over to XX and I did manage to score on a feisty and very dark smallie...

...but that was it so we went down to my island.

At this point, John has me down 6 or 7 to 3.

We started getting a few bites with quite a few fish that got off...frustrating!

But now I started catching some, this one was 15.25". I broke my Avid M rod on this guy. I had just got it fixed but there must have been a hairline crack at the fix. I heard it snap, crackle and pop while I brought it in but that rod is...no more!

...and the next one was 14.5".

One with a paddle swim bait the other on a fluke.

Big fish was John's (close to the end of the trip) with a nice 17.5" smallie!

He caught it on a ribbed paddle swim bait.

We drifted for a bit more but we both had some Trick or Treating to do so off the water at 4!

Final score- John 9, Ernie 8.

Not a bad day and enough catching to make us happy!

Agreed but we had lots of bites with hookups that came off and that is frustrating. All good!
