Welcome Aboard!

Changing weather forecasts had John busy (we were supposed to fish on my boat today) as he had a jam session with his daughter today.
So Bob was willing and able to go...
We splashed the boat at 8:30a and it was CHILLY (34df)! But at least there was no ice just a little frost on the windshield.
I don't like chilly so we made a short run to the productive shoreline.
We started in a flat area as I didn't want to mess up the good areas while I adjusted the drift speed. The drift anchor was good again...until the winds kicked in at 10:30a.
Sure enough, where I said there would be no fish, Bob scored a very nice 17 incher to start the day!
He caught it on a finesse paddle swim.
I had decided that I wanted to be like George and was using a Zoom fluke on one of his swim hooks.
Bam! I get stuck on a log but it moved...mightily. It jumped and both Bob and I gasped for air. It was a biggie. It took off and was peeling drag. The moment I went to turn it, snip, the line cut just above the hook. Man, that was a huge disappointment, especially after seeing it. In retrospect, I had caught many fish on the same hook and had not bothered to check the line. I will check more often now.
Then I got on the board with a nice 14.75"!
I think Bob had me 4-1 at that time.
Because I did not want to run much (too much wind chill), we made the drift a couple of times after we tried the middle for a short bit. Each drift was a different path.
Bob was next with a 14.25" (along with 3-4 smaller ones)...
...and then I scored a nice 15.5"
Then he hooked into a nice fish that did not want to come aboard. I kept telling him that he had his 20 incher. It was girthy!
Turned out to be just a hair over 18.5" but we weighed it and it was 4.85lbs. What a hog!
We each caught a few more and then I got a 16.5".
Bob then hooked into another nice one but it got off.
When the winds kicked up it shut the bite down but we kept trying. Once the wind would settle for a bit, we would catch some. When it kicked up, they would not bite.
Towards the end, we did find an area @100' away from shore where Bob got 4 bites and his last fish. We know where that is and will be back.
He ended the day with 9 fish to my 4, turning the tables from Tuesday.
All the fish were relating to rocks, holes and near the shoreline.
We were off the water at 2:45p and I was glad because I was cold.

Great job and beautiful fish!! They are still biting. We will see what the rains bring for next week.

That is awesome! CONGRATS1

As a comparison, my 16.5" fish was more than 2lbs lighter than Bob's!

Here we go again...
...I hope that's the peak. We shall see!

As long as it doesn't get much above 5 feet, it might be salvageable by mid-week. A little color is good too. Let's be optimistic.
