7-27-18, Wicomico River

For a long time, we've (John Lipetz and I) been trying to get Quinn out for a white perch trip. Today was the day but lots of dirty water all around "forced" me to get back to our old perch water, the Wicomico. But 1st, we made a stop at the Chaptico Deli for their famous home made sausage and egg sandwiches. And, I got some of their delish bread pudding! The plan was to hit Quade's for lunch and enjoy some of their crab cakes.

We were on the water shortly after 8a.

Carl's name came up several times and I even got a call from Mo.

Our 1st spot, a tried and true perch hole, produced nothing. Oh oh!

I stayed calm and moved over to the grass point where we all got out skunks off and then some!

But what was about to ensue was magical. I challenged John and Quinn to keep score and the two of them battled it out while I caught a fish here and there....

We had too many doubles to count and a couple of triples!

Quinn caught the smallest one of the day so we got the shot!

We needed to get some ice so we ran over to Quade's but they were closed....major bummer. We ended going over to Shamansky's and got it. Did I mention it was flat calm?

Once we left Neal Sound, we hit St. Margaret's island and had some success but the scenery was special. Ospreys, eagles and Peacock's! You might be able to spot the latter in this shot!

While here, I got slammed a couple of times by some kitties and Quinn got one a s well...

No stogies for these guys...deer sticks!

We heard some thunder and decided to work our way back to the ramp and stopped at Mrs. Wolf's Cove where we did really well!

Once we saw lightning, we were out of there (1:30pmish).

The score was:

Quinn- 66
John- 64
Ernie- somewhere below them but we figure we caught around 160 white perch plus the 3 cats.

So Quinn got the 1st one and the most. I scored the biggest at just over 10".

What a great day and we topped it off with some fried chicken from the Deli before the long trip home....

Glad you had a good day and found some clean water.  shame there aren't any SRRKC fish around there.  Is Quades closed for good?

One of the pier fishermen said they would open at 3 today....had we stayed, we would have encountered upwards of 50mph winds with the storm that blew through.

I did talk to Bodeen and Butch Shemansky and they both said the deep perch (lumps) were jumbos this year.
