I got out early this morning and was the first boat out.
It was still almost dark due to cloud cover and very comfortable, with temps in the upper 60's. I started with the whopper plopper and caught this nice 14.5"er at the top of an island.
I caught one more dink before running up river. I decided to try the fast shallow water on the Maryland side because it stays in the shade longer. After a while throwing the plopper, I had a nice blow up and was hooked up. I fought the fish and was able to net it. It was a healthy 17.5"er. I took an extra picture at a different angle and am glad because one was blurry.
I wanted to see if I could get more bites on the plopper and messed around on that shore for a while. I got quite a few blow ups that I was not expecting and did not hook the fish. Most seemed to be aggressive smaller fish. I worked my way down the shoreline throwing different baits after 9:30am and caught a couple, but nothing big. After I ate my lunch, I just floated and picked up a couple more fish on the underspin jig with swimbait trailer. I hooked a one-eyed fish that was 17", but it was bleeding, so I did not take a picture. Here is one pretty fish that went about 15".
I ended up getting quite a few bites on that jig, but only landed 3 on the way home. I caught about 8 or so total, not really chasing them around, but just floating. I was off the water at 12:00pm

You are a fishing machine this week...and a good thing because next week looks dicey.
See you in the morning!

I forgot to mention that that first fish I caught on the plopper came completely out of the water!
