John and I were supposed to fish Tuesday but the river was rising fast...
...turns out that they got over an inch of rain upriver in Hagerstown.
By the time we got off the river at 6, it was over 5' at POR. However, it was just slightly stained but moving pretty good which left us few places with still water.
We went where John hammered them the other day but they were not there. I caught 2 small ones and John got one.
Only reason for this pic is that it was my 1st smallie of the year.
We basically gave up and hit a few spots but no bites.
On the way back, we stopped at our stomping grounds but no bites again. I then mentioned to john that I needed an adrenaline rush and imminently got hit on the jerk bait.
John said it was 17", I said 18".
Nice fat, dark smallie.
We did measure it and it was a hair over 16.5"....but he flopped when John hit the button!
Was really glad to get out on the river, beautiful day for us!
Ramp was busy with yakers, jet skis and crew boats.....

Thank you for the afternoon trip and boat ride, Ernie! Fishing is a fickle thing and they fooled me this time. So glad you got some on your first trip out and that nice chunk at the end. Sorry for my poor photography skills. You are the jerk bait master!

Lol, fish always seem to know when you're about to hit the button for a pic.

When you guys fish the UP are you finding hot spots and anchoring for a bit or doing controlled floats?

Both but mostly spot locking. Later, we’ll float more using the TM to hold us in place in spots.
