4-26 LKA

Spent about 10 hours on the lake today.  It was tough fishing.  Marking stripers was not easy........lots of dead water.  When I eventually did a couple of times, it was casting/jigging.  Only two fish today.  First was a 21" keeper striper.  Only striper of the day.

Later I was lucky to get this beast in the net.............went into livewell until I got someone to take a pic for me.  22.75" long and full of roe.  And no, I am not extending it out like Roland Martin does.......my elbows are bent and tucked down smile

It was released after the pic. Who wants to guess the weight?  Guesses under 8 lbs are a waste.   I will post the weight in a week or so.

OK, OK.....a little April fools on the bass.  It is real but will post the story later.  The striper is legit.

Man it's so hard to guess from a picture...I'll just say that is a real nice bass! The striper isn't bad either.

Re: 4-26 LKA

Rest of the story........Press release from VDGIF.........

Fisheries Biologists complete 2018 Lake Anna Largemouth Bass survey:  Biologists completed nearly a week of sampling on Lake Anna on April 26th.  Catch rates for all size categories of bass during this survey were near record levels with overall bass catch rate (electrofishing time) at 93/hour.  (The record was set in 2014 at 99/hour).  2014 still holds record catch rates for all size categories except fingerlings which was set in 2013.  2018 marked the 25th year of this standardized survey.  Mid-lake produced the best combination of numbers and size with the splits, Rose Valley and State Park areas providing many large fish.  Biggest fish sampled was 22.5" and 8.5 lbs.

Two of the many fish sampled and returned.
