Lake Orange 2/22

I took yesterday off work to satisfy an itch for some bass. This is my favorite time of year for bigguns in our little lakes.

Long story short...nothing! I fished from 9am-4pm and never had a bite. Mostly fished jerkbaits, but also threw swimbaits, bladebaits, and dragged a jig for a bit. There was a surprising lack of bait on the depthfinder, only saw a few small pods and they may have been crappies and gills. I'm thinking the shad population probably took a decent hit from that cold snap back in January.

Water temp was 52, with about 1 foot of viz.

Maybe next time...

The good thing is that we are all starting to get out and get the rust off!

Yeah, this was just a down payment towards a really good day.
