7-3-08, Upper Potomac PB trip

Round 2!

Jeff English had a back seat open this afternoon so I jumped on the chance to do some scouting for our 4th of July float!

On our 1st drift, we (well, mostly Jeff) caught some small smallies but it was nice to get 'em in the place I used to fish 15+ years ago! Jeff did hook into a nice one on his lightest rig!!

It was a nice 14 incher!

On our second drift, I got a nice hit and immediately Jeff knew it was not a smallmouth bass!

There is no doubt about the difference in fight between brown (smallie) and green (LG Mouth) bass .

Later, using a “pimp” lure (Curly can explain when he gets back)……

….I landed a nice one!

While floating, we ran in to the Treasurer of the Potomac River Smallmouth Club, Jamie Gold, as he was trying out his new canoe!

Don’t worry; we put it there to do some wading!

Just as time was running out, using a fluke, I was able to land a very nice 14 incher!

As usual, Jeff doubled my total but it was a great afternoon hosted by a great smallie chaser....THANKS Jeff!
