Algonkian 9/17/17

A few weeks ago, Algonkian was on fire - I was catching between 20-30 smallmouth almost every night.  Some good ones, some dinks.  It's slowed in the last week or so, but last night Paul and I made it out.  Started out very slow, but picked up significantly at the end.

Paul can tell his story, but he was nice enough to grab this picture of the biggest smallie I've caught from the Potomac: 19.25".  Not sure on weight, but it had a belly for sure.  It seems that I'm not catching as many recently, but I've caught better fish, as this is the fourth over 18" in the last four trips.

Normally that would be my response. Last night for me was disappointing with the tube. I only landed one fish on it. I did have a flurry in the last 45 minutes with the Z-man Pop Shadz. I landed 5 and had several other good hits.

Here's a sample of the size I landed. Probably the offspring of Kevin's pig.

Good job!  Getting out is half of it.  We need a little more water, but early and late should stay good.  Topwater, guys.  Tube is a good choice this time of year too.
