9-16-17, UP.

Luke and I met up at the ramp at 6:40 and were on the water quickly but about 20 minutes behind John.

Absolutely beautiful morning!!

That's William Heresniak's ( Eastern Trophies Fly Fishing) raft parked up front. He does a trip from Algonkian to Riverbend.

You can barely make out a little boat in the pic, that's John.

We drifted with him for a few minutes but I did not want to encroach so we headed up river...and got pounded again by a white miller hatch. Millions of these little white bugs....looked like a blizzard. Was still picking them out of my hair and ears while showering.

Once up by Harrison island, we ran in to Jeff Green (Shallow Waters Fishing Adventures) and he was not having too much luck.

I did get a nice follow and take on my swimbait (right up at the boat) but he jumped, looked at me and spit the hook!

Good sign but we threw the kitchen sink at them and got very few bites.

We finally got back down river and met up with John. he told us the story and we were bummed for us but happy for him! He was chillin' for sure!

Finally, I landed this monster!

You can see how impressed Luke was!

Without going into detail, Luke needed some water time....we had a great trip despite the lack of catching.

Re: 9-16-17, UP.

We discussed this today, here are the life jacket rules for the UP- Any person on board a vessel, raft, or tube shall wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved Type I, II, III, or V life jacket at all times when on the Upper Potomac River between November 15 and the following May 15. This regulation is in addition to Class III, IV, and V White Water Stream segment regulations which require life jackets to be worn at all times by persons navigating those stream segments.

Nice pictures!  I was tired from the sun and lots of casting by that point.  Float and drag caught the better numbers.  Water needs about a foot for my liking.  More stain too.  Back at it tomorrow for a shorter day.  I don't expect to match today's results, but some better numbers would be nice.

Always wishin' I was fishin'
