In our quest for bigger white perch, Bob and I went to Sandy point to launch so we could fish a particular shoreline.
Bob reminded me to hit the shore and pilings before moving on...
...and I did with pretty good results. i should have stayed there while the tide was still up. But...I left fish to go find more fish.
I need to remember to take a few shot of my WP catches. Since we are in the tourney, we need a specific size (or bigger) so I don't take any shots.
Today, Bob had the pleasure of catching 2 channel cats, his favorite!
He caught perch, striper, cats, spot and croaker.
I caught a couple of croaker as well...
We got off the water before the eclipse....lots of folks were going out. It was rumored that once the eclipse happened, that fish would jump in the boat. But in realty, the wind and waves were kicking up so we got out of there before getting swamped.
Oh...the perch were biting. Not a stellar day but several dozen bit the hook!

Sweet! Nice croaker too.

Nice fishes. I guess that sun-behind-the-bridge picture will suffice for your regular sun rise picture.

Those croakers put up a nice fight on light tackle. Thanks for the report.

Have you guys ever put some topless box traps with floats out there on your kayaks?

Sorry, I mean for crabbing to clarify.
Like, if you know you're going to be in a certain area, dropping some topless traps with buoy floats, doing some fishing and then come to check traps every 15 mins?

WP fishing is constant casting...always the possibility of the next big one. Of course, a 13" is a citation so they ain't all that big but Bob and I are obsessed and have been for many a year.
I don't crab since I don't eat them unless someone has taken the meat out for me.

Several of the snaggedline (forum) kayakers do this and even do full out trot lines with good success.

HAHA! LMAO. My friend says I wish we could just catch crabcakes! And he's a crabber with a Chesapeake deadrise! I love catching crabs myself, but I'm allergic to blue crabs....can't eat em although I want too....answer...Benadryl!
