Got my boat on the water at 6:30am and we had lines in soon after. We got into some fish right away and had 3 bass from 2 to over 4lbs in the boat in the first 30 minutes, along with a few smaller ones. Everything was on lipless cranks in the grass. Pretty soon a bunch of tournament boats were flying into the creek, but thankfully they all crowded into a spot on the other side.
Wore that bite out and then made a move to another flat a mile downriver but there wasn't much grass. We found one clump and my buddy pulled a 4-12 out of it on a chatterbait, but that was the only bite we had there.
We then headed a little further down to fish a main river grass bed. Water was very clear in this spot and we caught a bunch of bass on chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, but only a couple were keeper size. After that we made a quick run to the Mt.Vernon area but found dirty water and no grass so we moved on.
Headed back to the creek where we started the day but the bass were no longer in the grass (just goldfish), so we moved up shallow and started fishing wood on the bank and that was the ticket. Caught several more fish on chatterbaits fished tight to cover, including some chunky 3+lbers.
Finished up flipping some docks but that was unproductive so we called it a day. Our best 5 would have been 18-19lbs. It was a very wet, very fun day. I can't wait to get back out there!

Fat fish!! Well done. Amazing how goldfish thrive.
