Paul Ketrick and I met up at Occoquan Regional Park to get some bass fishing in....at one of my favorite spots.

We splashed the boat and No Waked it down river with no incident. The water was muddy, dirty and swift.

But then, the motor sputters and the water in the fuel issue rose up again.

We kept the motor running while we pretended to fish and it seemed like it got back to normal. So off we went and now we were past the Rt. 1 bridge when the sputtering started again.

I am glad that I got that 80lb thrust Trolling Motor because we were back at the ramp in very little time.

But...since we had lots of juice left, we decided to go up river a bit more and catch a few shad.

It did not take long for Paul to hook up.





That's the 1st fish caught in the new ride!

And he hooked up 4-5 more times before I did.



I will say this, the shad at the "O" are fatter than the Fletcher's shad. By far!

Paul continued his onslaught...







....and frankly, I did too. He did out fish me but we had a great 3 hours of action....saving the day from what could have been nothing but disappointment if we had gone back to the ramp at 8am.

We ran in to 2 yakers that I recognized and later found out that they did well with the shad and some low 20's stripers.

The fishing was very good for how dirty the water was.....
